The City is requires the service of a qualified engineering consulting firms to act as prime consultant in the provision of consulting, design, and construction administration services for the following:

• Fire Alarm Systems Upgrade at the Mississauga Civic Centre

Led by the prime consultant, the consultant team shall provide consulting services as one coordinated and integrated service. The business relationship between the prime consultant and sub-consultants shall be arranged and managed without City involvement. The prime consultant shall report to the City’s Contract Manager.

The anticipated construction cost is approximately $3,000,000.00 (excl. HST). The anticipated construction cost includes the cash allowance and contingency, but excludes all soft costs such as permit fees, consulting fees, FF&E, HST etc.

Construction is expected to start Q2 2024 and achieve substantial performance in Q4 2025.

Given the unique nature of this project, where construction activities will be punctuated by equipment lead times and phased implementation to maintain building operability, the City estimates that there will be weeks and periods where no construction is taking place on-site. Therefore, the Prime Consultant’s bid and fee should reflect the true level of Contract Administration services required. We must differentiate this project from a typical "Building Construction" endeavour.
