Without limiting the project scope, which is described in detail in the Contract Documents, the Work involves:

Construction services for the replacement of two ice rink pad systems and dasher boards.

1. Provide temporary dust tight barriers, hoarding and ventilation for the duration of construction.
2. Removal of existing rink pad, under-slab insulation, vapour barrier, player box concrete risers, dasher boards, shields, gates and adjacent flooring at arena level.
3. Provide new rink pad (low tolerance, high flatness slab), under-slab insulation, vapour barrier, gates and adjacent flooring at arena level.
4. Replace existing wood decking over header trench.
5. Provide bar grate at ice resurfacer gate.
6. Provide 48” tall dasher boards, 72” tall shields (seamless shield at sides & standard shield with netting on ends) and prefabricated aluminum frame with wedge anchor bases (epoxy and threaded rod anchors in new concrete slab) and support beam for advertising panels.  Exposed edges of shield to be terminated with safety curved plexiglass system, with energy absorbing sleeve, at Player’s Boxes (new standard removes need for protection of shield corner posts with pads). 
7. New “Full Season” advertising panels for future use.
8. Enlarge player’s boxes, penalty boxes and timekeepers box as dimensioned on proposed rink layout.
9. Provide time/score controller built-in Timers Table drawer in timekeepers box.
10. New swing gates for public skate access to rink surface.
11. New removable dasher boards & glazed shield system for exterior loading door access through Players box onto rink surface.
12. New Netting/ Mesh at each end to meet current ORFA guidelines.
13. Separate Price items: Refer to the Separate Price Schedule
14. Replacement of two warm brine pumps, motor starters and controls.
15. Installation of electrical system for the proposed rink renovations. May include but not limited to new wiring, conduits, disconnects, and controls for pumps, pump starters, communication/electrical for timekeepers box.
16. Integration of all new components into the existing Ice Rink Automation System, including sequence of operations optimization and testing
17. The facility has scheduled Ice Rink shut-down from February 1st, 2021 to October 1st 2021 (35 weeks).
18. The Bidder is advised that all ice rink related work shall commence and be completed within the planned shutdown period.
