Description: 

The Corporation of the City of Mississauga (the “City”) invites qualified Bidders to submit proposals for the provision of engineering services for pedestrian trail bridges replacement and rehabilitation in multiple sites within the City. The Consultant will make recommendations to enhance the design of pedestrian bridge structures to attain a lifespan of 35 – 40 years, and prepare design and contract documents for the redevelopment of ten (10) existing pedestrian bridges.

Qualified Bidders must:

  • Be readily available to provide required Services;
  • Be a multi-disciplinary firm or engineering firm with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating under the same company name;
  • Have a Certificate of Authorization, issued by PEO;
  • Have a Consulting Engineer Designation;
  • Have assembled a team of qualified professionals and specialists with proven success in developing municipal projects of similar type and scale to that described herein:
  • Key personnel (project team and senior staff) are registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), and should have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience directly related to bridge and structural bridge inspection, design and life cycle asset management, ideally in the province of Ontario;
  • Supervisory personnel with a professional engineering license in Ontario (PEO) for a minimum of five (5) years with a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience. They must also have direct experience in structural bridge inspection, design and life cycle asset management (for concrete and steel structures);
  • Project manager (PM):
    • PEO (P. Eng) designation for a minimum of five (5) years;
    • Minimum of two (2) successfully completed projects of similar scope and complexity to that described in the SOW, e.g. administering bridge construction projects at multiple locations concurrently; and
    • Familiar with Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM) mandate;
  • Field inspection staff that will be certified members of the Ontario Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (C.Tech or C.E.T.) in civil, structural and/or transportation fields; or members of PEO -  Engineer in Training (EIT) with a minimum of two (2) years direct experience in bridge/culvert construction and familiarity with OSIM.
