Description: 

The Corporation of the City of Mississauga (the “City”) invites proposals from Consulting firms to provide engineering services to complete field and laboratory testing on various roadway construction materials, conduct geotechnical investigations, as well as conduct chemical and environmental testing and reporting on excess soils generated from City projects.   The qualifications and experience of the firms and their staffs are critically important for this type of service.

The services required for this contract is as follows:

  • Roadway materials testing will involve field testing and sampling as well as laboratory testing on typical roadway materials such as gravels, asphalt and concrete. 
  • Geotechnical work will involve determining soils conditions under roadways, pathways and other such areas through borehole investigations. 
  • The environmental analysis on the soils in the geotechnical investigations is to provide background/baseline information on the chemical characteristics of the in-situ soils. 
  • Excess soil management will involve characterizing soil in accordance with applicable law, guidance documents, and City requirements to assess and recommend appropriate disposal or relocation options.
  • Environmental work for the geotechnical investigations and excess soil management will consist of sampling and testing of soil, preparing reports on the analytical results, a Qualified Person (Q.P.) signing-off on Waste Disposal Site forms as required, and providing guidance on the handling and reuse and/or disposal options for excess soil, all in accordance with applicable environmental laws, guidelines and policies of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC).

Qualified Proponents

  • Qualified Proponents are those that have done recent work of similar complexity, nature and scope for other organizations and in particular, governmental organizations in order to be considered for an award. Current governmental contracts (or those within the past five years), valued at $300,000 or more per annum represent a baseline for considering qualifications.
