Introduction The Corporation of the City of Mississauga’s (the “City”) Fire and Emergency Services (MFES) division is seeking to prequalify Suppliers for the purchase of Globe® Brand (SupremeTM 14”) or approved equivalent Leather Structural Firefighting Boots for Firefighters, Training Officers and Fire Inspectors. Bidders must clearly demonstrate through this Request for Prequalification (RFPQ) process, that they have the capability, experience and resources to qualify for participation in an upcoming competitive procurement process. The procurement process is expected to be conducted in a minimum of two stages; Stage 1: Prequalification of Suppliers (this stage) Stage 2: A Request for Tender The City will only invite the Bidders who successfully pre-qualify through this RFPQ process to participate in Stage 2 - RFT process. It is the City’s intent that up to three (3) top ranked Bidders will be pre-qualified to bid on this project. Background and Brief Scope MFES has over 700 staff comprised of Firefighters, Training Officers and Fire Investigators that require structural firefighting boots for protection against a variety of extreme conditions such as high heat, water, hazardous liquids, slippery surfaces, blood borne pathogens and cuts & abrasions. All submissions of structural firefighting boots must meet the requirements of:
MFES is planning on initially replacing approximately 600 structural firefighting boots, over a 12-month period, with future requirements determined through recruitment classes and replacement needs. This estimate may increase or decrease throughout the procurement process. Qualified Bidders are those who meet the mandatory requirements and who are in the primary business of supplying and delivering leather structural firefighting boots for a specified period of time, and have experience with contracts that are similar in size and requirements of the City.
